Children With Autism Love Star Ceilings

Star Ceilings & Autism

I was told about the positive effect that a star ceiling can have on a child with autism by a customer.

She had bought one of my cosmic posters off eBay for her son and she emailed me shortly after to say what an amazing effect it had on his sleep pattern. When he woke up, which he did frequently during the night, he would normally be very restless and lie awake for a good hour or two before getting off to sleep again.

The star poster now gave him something to focus on and he loved the colours, twinkling stars and other effects.

Since then I’ve done many star ceilings for children with autism and sold copies of my eBook to parents who have created their own star ceilings for their children.

Star Ceiling Video

BBC 1 Video Of A Star Ceiling

Carl, one of my students, was invited to create a glow in the dark cosmic star ceiling as part of a boys bedroom makeover on the BBC 1 programme DIY SOS.

You can see a short clip from the show when Carl unveils the ceiling for the first time to the presenters and listen to their reaction.

The star ceiling video gives you an idea about what a star ceiling looks like.

Is it easy to create a Star Ceiling?

How Easy Is It To Create A Glow In The Dark Star Ceiling?

This is a question I get asked a lot and there is a simple answer.

Once you have read through the techniques as detailed in my eBook you will see how easy it is to create a star ceiling that will absolutely astound you and your children or partner.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate the difficulty as being a 2. If you can stand on a small stepladder and reach the ceiling then you can do it easily.

Glow In The Dark Star Ceilings

Glow In The Dark Star Ceilings

glow in the dark star ceilings

The fantastic effect that seeing an amazing glow in the dark star ceiling for the first time has on a child is worth every bit as much as the money the parents are only too willing to hand over to me.

I ‘unveil’ one of my creations by getting the child, parents and whoever else wants to see it at the time into the room. The light is on and so the ceiling looks exactly as it does on any other day. I get everybody to lie down, on the bed and on the floor, put some ‘space music’ on to enhance the atmosphere, ask them to close thier eyes and keep them shut as I count down from 20 to zero.

As I’m counting I shut the door and turn off the light plunging the room into darkness.

I then tell everyone to open their eyes. For a second there is silence and then I’ll hear the first WOW!

Everyone is amazed at what they are seeing above them. I’ll spend a few minutes pointing out different effects, constellations and planets.
